Setup guide
Five steps from download to your first lead alert. It is free and takes a few minutes.
1. Install the app and create your account
Download Contactable from the App Store or Google Play, open it and create an account. We email you a verification link; confirm it, return to the app and press “I've verified my email”. When asked, allow notifications. They are only used to deliver leads from your website.
2. Add your website
On the welcome screen choose “Let's get started” and enter your website address. Use only the start of the address, such as www.contactable.live, not a sub page such as www.contactable.live/about, so we can listen for your leads in the right place.
3. Choose who installs the plugin
Send the setup instructions to the email address you registered with, or to the person who will install the plugin for you. The setup email includes your API key.
4. Install the WordPress plugin
Download the Contactable WordPress plugin and keep it as a .zip file. In your WordPress admin (/wp-admin) go to Plugins, choose Add New and then Upload Plugin, and select the file. Install it and press Activate when prompted.
Open the new Contactable tab, enter your API key and click Save. If you cannot see the tab, check the plugin is activated on the Plugins page. Contact forms already on your site are detected automatically. If you do not have a form yet, the plugin settings page provides a shortcode for a basic contact form.
5. Finish in the app
Back in the app, press “I've registered the plugin” to reach the setup complete page and your dashboard. From now on, every message sent through your contact forms arrives in the app as a notification, and you can reply by email with one tap. If you do not reach the setup complete page, read the error shown, repeat the steps above and check the questions below.
Adding another website
In the app, open Settings and start setup again to add a new website. You can use as many forms as you like on one website or across several.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You can download Contactable and set up your first website without entering any payment details.
How long does setup take?
Usually a few minutes: install the app, verify your email, then add the Contactable plugin to your WordPress site and paste in your API key.
Which websites does it work with?
Contactable works with WordPress websites through the Contactable plugin, which detects your existing contact forms automatically. Other platforms are not supported yet.
Is there a limit on forms or websites?
No. You can add many forms to one website, or forms across several websites.
I cannot find my API key. Where is it?
In the app, go to Settings, then Setup, then Copy API Key. To send the setup email again, choose Setup Another Website and enter the site address; the email contains your API key.
My contact form shows "invalid UUID". What do I do?
The API key in the Contactable WordPress plugin is missing or incorrect. Open the plugin settings on your site and check the key is entered and saved. Updating or reinstalling the plugin can clear it.
Is my data secure?
We do not sell your data, and it is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. It is processed only by the providers that run the service, Google Firebase and Amazon Web Services. See the Privacy Policy for details.
